Family History-Indexing- Personal Progress

You may be puzzled at the title of this post.
Family History- Indexing- Personal Progress.

During the October 2011 General Conference, David A Bednar called for the Youth to participate in Family History. My initial response was "That is for OLD people!". However something kept telling me, "NO it is not, it is for the youth- You have the knowledge, You have the resources"   I know this was the spirit telling me what I really needed to do. Although I have just started, and although I haven't done much with my Family History, I know this work is VERY important and beneficial;  To me, and to those who are waiting to be recognized. In History class we hear about all these people, their lives, what is was like, and the major events that happened. However doing Indexing has made me realize that even though the big events and powerful people were important, the worth of one humble soul is infinitely great.

Doctrine and Covenants 18:10
 Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God;

I encourage you to try out Indexing, it is MUCH simpler than you EVER thought before. My goal is to instead of going on Facebook (and pinterest, yahoo, google....etc) , indexing a few names.

Try it out at https://indexing.familysearch.org/

Easter

Tomorrow is Easter, I love to read scriptures about Jesus Christ and really make Easter a day off- a day of prayer, scripture study and rest in his honor. May we remember what he did, and count our blessings twice over.

You can watch all of the Easter videos at the link below.
I really like the resurrection one :)

Family Home Evening

After watching Conference and listening to the many talks about overcoming our weaknesses and our trials, I found this video. It is so inspiring to know that we can overcome and conquer our trials!  I shared this video with my family today for FHE (Family Home Evening), and now I want to share it with you!

Confernce today!!

Conference was awesome yesterday :) So uplifting, if you would like to watch yesterdays session, or watch today's visit  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/watch?lang=eng

One of my most favorite talks was Jeffery R. Hollands talk "It is never too late"
I love his talk because of his powerful message that
"It is not possible for you to sink lower than the infinite light of Christ’s Atonement shines."
How powerful it is to know of the power of Christ's Atonement especially around this Easter Holiday.

I also found this fun activity to do during conference
It's called "Fantasy General Conference"

Find it here http://beinglds.blogspot.com/2012/03/fantasy-general-conference.html
I hope you enjoy Conference as much as I have :)

General Conference! You're Invited!!!

I Love General Conference! It is always a nice time to listen to the leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Even if you are not Mormon you are most certainly welcome to watch a session, or as much as you like. Conference will be published into print, translated in may different languages, and will be available to watch again and again at LDS.org. I would like to share some of the ways I prepare for conference in another post, so look for my next post.

What is ?
Conference is where all the member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) Stay home or gather at our churches to listen to talks (or sermons) by the prophet and members of the church (Why do we have prophets?) . It's like Church on television. All of the speakers are unpaid, and spend many months preparing what they would like to say. The speakers pray for guidance as to what would be important to say.

Who is Conference for?
Anyone!! Young, Old, in their teens, or middle aged- conference is meant for all ages. You do not have to be Mormon either! You can be of any faith. It is a broadcast meant for the world! That is why conference talks are translated into nearly every language, even sign language!

When is conference?
Saturday March 31st and Sunday April 1st. There are 2 "sessions" or 2 broadcasts each day. One in the morning one in the Afternoon. The four general sessions will be held on Saturday and Sunday at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. mountain daylight time. The priesthood session will be held on Saturday, March 31, at 6:00 p.m. mountain daylight time.

How do I prepare for Conference?

Read this article, it is a wonderful guide to how one can prepare for conference!
https://www.lds.org/youth/article/getting-the-most-out-of-conference?lang=eng

My number one advice is Pray, Ponder, and get Paper or a notebook.
Start now, even if you haven't prayed for a while, or if you are not a member of the church, think about what you need- what questions do you have, and ask Heavenly Father for guidance during conference. Watch conference and take note of things that answer your questions. Write your questions down, and write the answers below them.

I hope that helped answer some questions about conference. I hope you will join me this Saturday Sunday!!! :)
